Thanks Bel, I'm glad you liked it. I read your piece on blogs from last issue and I've just read your entry (or should I call it a lecture?smiley - evilgrin) from this week's edition, which I enjoyed as well. Interestingly, I was already thinking about offering an entry on the subject of complaining for the next post, maybe if we carry on much longer at this rate we shall keep copying each other's ideas?

Bad idea, yours reads so much better than mine, I hope nobody else will realise the similar topic.smiley - yikes
I'm just not funny, never was, never will be, that's life. smiley - smiley

Ah, but if I wrote my next piece in German you'd see how poor it was.

I think I can say 'I am a tortoise' but I'm not sure I can spell it. Also, I can count up to about ten. It would be a very boring article.

That does indeed sound as if it would beat my article by lengths as far as dullness is concerned smiley - laugh

Maybe that could be the basis for your next entry. The dullest article it is possible to write. Go on, lets see if you can do better than 'ten tortoises'.

I thought it was ten green bottles anyway smiley - biggrin
And I think I know what I'm going to write about next time, but I'm not going to tell smiley - nahnah

Yes, but I was never taught the German for 'bottle'. Or 'Green'. Actually, I probably was, but we were far more interested in the German word I have sadly forgotten that sounds very much like the English word 'whorehouse'. You've gotta love foriegn langauges!

Well, I think you mentioned the Italian variant of one German word for it on the Glenn Miller thread. Just omit the o at the ending, and bingo. smiley - biggrin

rofl

Post 12

Doesn't sound like me, I don't know any Italian words...

Bordell?

Dare I ask what it means?

rofl

Post 15

aka Bel - A87832164

Well, it means whorehouse - I thought you were looking for that word in German?

rofl

Post 16

benjaminpmoore

No, I was trying to remember a German word that sounds like whorehouse. Aren't there english words that sound amusingly like something dubious in German?

Well, a whore is a 'Hure', so you could ask for a 'Hurenhaus', but I don't think it's commonly used, it's pejorative. Apart from that, I have no idea about a similar sounding word.
