The Brothers Gibb
I've taken a challenge. No, it's not a fib!
I promised to write about the Brothers Gibb.
So off I go, fingers quickly type up Google!
Yikes! Have you seen the list? I need a pen to doodle!
Leaving the Isle of Man for Manchester, on the mainland
Where they practised and played until they became a band.
First they were the Rattlesnakes and then the Blue Cats.
Later they moved to Oz, where men wear funny hats!
The Brothers Gibb found they had become well-known.
So popular, they were given a TV show of their own!
Then America beckoned. So they all left in jets,
To the land that would give them 'Massachusetts'.
As families do, they would argue and fight,
The split in the band didn't occur overnight.
They each went their own way, just for a while,
Eventually coming back with a brand new style.
With the falsetto voices they all now had.
They went on to prove it was nothing bad.
Tight pants came along with 'Jive Talkin''
Did that contribute to their funny walkin'?
They wrote and sang songs for 'Saturday Night Fever'
And went on to prove that they had the lever.
They gave the music for John Travolta,
To show his hip movements and not dance the polka!
They made discos popular and sure enough
Even the boys came forward to strut their stuff.
They sang as good as the Beatles and even Elvis.
Girls melt as their boyfriends wriggle the pelvis!
In the 80s their disco bubble had burst.
But personal tragedy would bring something worse.
They mourned the loss of Andy, their baby brother.
Then, more recently, they lost another.
Love them or loathe them, you must admit,
The Bees Gees took their works up to the limit.
They gave us songs like 'It's Only Words'.
They wrote and sang as sweet as birds.
Now to my challenge on the Brothers Gibb.
I must write a Guide Entry and not be glib!
So off to PR I must now attend,
For this poem has come to its natural end.
