I'll join. I have credentials. I've been playing computer games since 1982 and I've maxed out the clock on Disgea: hour of darkness. I would cautiously estimate I could beat any of this club's members at any streetfighter game. One handed.

Katamari

If it's still available, I nominate my wife as "Queen of Katamari". Previously a pencil gamer with only Tetris on the original Gameboy as a "video" game, she is now completely hooked on "Katamari Damacy". She's having a little trouble with a couple of the presents (the "Bear" level?), but it's been keeping her mind off the exercise bike for weeks.

We have the sequel for the PS2, still unopened, but it sounds like the new release, "Beautiful Katamari", is only for the Xbox 360 and maybe the Wii. I read that the publisher may consider a PC version ... I hope so since I can't find a Wii to buy (at $250), and am not much interested in an Xbox ...

I'll join, I've got an old Atari XE System, a NES, a SNES, a Megadrive/Genesis, an N64, a Saturn, a PSX, a GameCube, a PS2, a Gameboy, a GameBoy Pocket, a GameBoy Colour, a GameBoy Light [<--very rare], a GBA, a Pokemon Mini, a Nintendo DS and a Game Gear.

Oh and I'm going to get me a Wii.

You'll like the Wii, I finally got one and am very impressed. My wife is completely hooked, doing her "Wii Age" every day plus a bunch of Wii Sports training and games. The bowling in particular seems pretty convincing.

I've been mostly a computer gamer but I did buy a PS2 recently, mostly to play DVD's with 5.1 surround sound. I do have a handful of games and enjoy them. My one previous console is a 3DO, which many people have never heard of but was quite the powerhouse in its day. Still works, I think.

I remember the 3DO, it was an open system so anyone could make one...wasn't Doom or Quake or something originally a 3DO game?

Right, I had the Panasonic version but there were other brands. Here is a pretty good writeup:

I don't see Doom or Quake and I don't remember them on the 3DO. My favorites were (are) "Need for Speed" with a two player split screen mode, "Foes of Ali" - a good boxing simulator that came out toward the end of the 3DO's popularity, and "Wing Commander III" which was good for its time and had a cast including Mark Hamill, Malcolm McDowell, and - especially - Ginger Lynn smiley - drool
