Sweet potatoes

Post 1

You can call me TC

As our attention was dran to the entry on the mystery of the sweet potato over on the Visitor Statistics thread, I read said entry, and noticed that it was from 2004.

I thought to myself "genetics has come a long way since then, surely they have got to the bottom of this by now".

So I started to Google "how did the sweet potato get to polynesia" and I had hardly written the "SW" part of "sweet" and the question was completed for me. I was bowled over by the number of mentions it seemed to have. I've got a lot of reading to do if I want to find out how the mystery was solved. There were some spoilers in the headings - it is reckoned that the Polynesians DID go to South America and bring them back.

A real hootoo rabbit hole here!

paulh. Don't accept substitutes

Shazz has smiley - elvised to Facebook, but does not seem to be especially active there. Sweet potatoes are low on the glycemic index, which might not have been as big a deal in 2004 as it is now....
