I should co-co! Excellent stuff bob Well structured, fascinating information, your best so far. And you're obviously a keen castle go-er.
There are a few minor editing and punctuation things as I read through, but an eagle-eyed sub-editor or another Peer Reviewer will pick them out for you.
Great work, can tell you enjoyed writing it. Thank you

Oh, one minor thing. So they don't stick out, your links:
English Heritage
Legend Of King Arthur
can probably go between your REFERENCES tags, as you've done with some of the other links.

My favourite is Carisbrooke on the Isle of Wight, barring that Dover and Hellfire Corner. Oh, and Tintagel. Ah, pfft, I love 'em all!

Bob, this is fantastic. I used to live nearby, and you've really done justice to the place.
You might want to mention English Heritage's description: "Portchester can be considered a complete history of England in one place", which I thought was succinct.
I'd consider taking your Saxon Shore Forts list out of the footnote and putting it in its own section, where you first mention it, as it's really interesting stuff. Perhaps start the section "The Building" at the following paragraph.

Yes, but I'd add a new header "Saxon Shore Forts" where you currently have the header "The Building", and move the header "The Building" to just before the paragraph which starts "Walls were built of flint and limestone...".
Does that make sense?

Bob, You'll need to state in the title probably that Portchester Castle is in Hampshire, England. First para in and the yanks'll be thinking they've got real castles in New Hampshire and they'll all be off there to kiss the blarney stone and express how they are somehow related to Christopher O'Columbus.

Here are some nitpicks:
"Roman referances give the size as 100 metres square" --> references
"The others included Odiham and Dover , and" --> lose the space before the comma
Any chance you could move those last two links to the REFERENCES section or put them in the main part of the entry?
Alex

Hi Bob,
Back to those Saxon Shore Forts (sorry I missed this before):
You say "The others Shore Forts are noted in a document of the Roman imperial archives: Notitia Dignitatum. They are listed as follows:" (list of forts)
and then you don't list Walton fort "as it disappeared into the sea some time after 1600".
Did Walton appear on Roman lists? In which case, it should be listed with the others. I guess it would have had a Latin name, too.

Did you mean Dummoc/Walton? I just read some more about it here: http://www.suffolkchurches.co.uk/dummoc.htm Apparently it's still visible at low tide.
