A Conversation for The Royal h2g2 Geographical Entry Society - The Members' Bar

Number Six

Someone far cleverer than me pointed out that everyone in the society has specialist knowledge on some part of the world which could be very useful to everyone else - if someone's writing a new entry and would like a bit of help, they'll be able to find the best person to help them.

So, if you tell us where you know about, we'll add it to the list in the Members Bar.

Mine are, erm, well, let's see:
in the UK - North London and Staffordshire and vaguely the Midlands;
in Italy - Venice and the Veneto with a side bet on Tuscany plus the bit of Sardinia around Alghero;
in the rest of Europe - Prague, Bilbao, Madrid a little bit and France in general
outside Europe - Mexico, particularly Oaxaca state.

When it comes to travelling itself, I've probably travelled on trains in the UK and budget airlines far too much, and I also know a bit about inland waterways in England and France.

My favourite way to travel is on a sunny day in a comfortable car with the windows down on one of those lovely long, straight, traffic-free Route Nationales they have in France with trees down either side.

Frenchbean, there's a thread for new geographical entries in peer review, have you added the entry of Cooktown to that?

Will add you as soon as I get time. Anywhere particular in Wales you specialise in?

Moscow - how exciting! I've written an EG entry on it (A1018586 - Quick Tips for Western Tourists in Moscow) but know absolutely nothing about the place and have never been there... I found it in the EG and polished it up in PR with the help of some nice people who *had* been there...
