that the scriptures of old and new testament were given by the inspiration of god
that there is only one god
that there are three persons ion the godhead-father , son , and the holy ghost
that christ alone is truly and properly god and truly and properly man
that our first parents were made in innocency
that christ"s suffering and death made an atonement for the whole world
that repentance, faith and regeneration are necessary
that faith in christ is justified
that salvation depends entirely upon obedience in christ
that believers are sanctified
that immortality of soul is resurrection

spot on.

Though I think there's a typo in the last line.

There's a couple of points to make:

1. This is readily available from the salvation army website and elsewhere, and would really slow down the article if included in full. (though I agree that there should be a link to it);

2. Their statement of doctrine, of itself, doesn't significantly distinguish salvationists from most other christian denominations. i.e there's not much here that the Pope would drastically disagree with;

3. Taken as axioms of belief, it would be hard to derive from their statement of doctrine why salvationists are so distinctive when it comes to things like:- their quasi-military style, their abstention from alcohol, their rejection of the sacrements etc..

Actually these are good points that should be incorporated into the article!

Thanks.

The article has been revised and now includes a direct link to the statement of doctrine on the Salvation Army's headquarters website.

It also includes a brief discussion of the fact that there are many core salvationist beliefs - like teetotalism - which are not included in and which are not directly derived from the doctrines.
