Hi,
A great game, and wonderful that someone has finally formalized the rules.
My recommended route for playing this game would have to be North London's number 10, from Oxford Street to Archway via Kings Cross. The section of the route between Kings Cross and the top of York Way is particularly satisfying, with the best times to play being around 9am (North-to-South) and around 7pm (South-to-North). Added rain is even better.
The sheer unpredictabilty of this route, both in terms of timing and an unmentioned variable; whether you are actually allowed to get on a crowded bus by the conductor, make it challanging to both the amateur and professional player.
Personally, I count being unable to mount the bus as instant 'Pontoon'...
