Quite right. I moved into a very modest house quite a few years back. In the house's attic was a trunk filled with letters from the 1930's. One document in the trunk was a manuscript from the crazy poet, Ezra Pound, explaining that the labor hour would be a much better unit to support currencies than gold. The document had many marginal written notes in Ezra's own hand and was accepted as a contribution to the university where I was teaching with almost trembling fingers.
Ezra had the original thought that blood was more valuable than gold. If he was alive today, perhaps he would be thinking about oil?
