Mocking Keith Richards is my bit!

But taking a line from Red Dwarf... grr!

Awix, have you ever worn a corset? If you had you would know why she fell into the sea. She hadn;'t worn one before and was being like suffocated, which is partly why it has to be ripped off before reuscitating her, not just to make the male audience happy.
So there.

Have I ever worn a corset?

Do you really want to know the answer to that?

Well, anyway... you might be right, but I thought the film was really ambiguous about that, I thought it was something to do with the medallion affecting her. If it was her first time in whalebone the point wasn't made really very clearly.

Then again I may just have been being stupid again, in which case you shouldn't really complain as it seems these days you mainly post to this sort of thread to pick me up on the error of my ways...

Okay, sorry, just saying that though it would have been far more amusing if she just fell into the water because it was convenient for the plot, there was a reason given, even if it wasn't emphasised much.

Well I picked up on the corset thing straight-away...

Regardless of the rest of the film, Sparrow has the greatest character intro of all time (in my opinion), especially with the music score with it!

I still think the corset gag, if that is indeed what it is, is underexplained. The very fact that we're having this discussion four months later suggests so.

The best character introduction in the history of cinema? Well, I naturally tend toward either Connery in Dr No or Lee van Cleef in The Good, The Bad And The Ugly.

Aaargh! Scratch those two, I forgot about Omar Sharif in Lawrence of Arabia.

Well I've just seen the movie with the DVD release.

There are plenty of references about the corset.

'Then the girls of England mustn't no how to breathe...'

The numerous holding stomach bits and, ah yes, the big blob of water when the corest is ripped off. 'I never would have thought of that.'

We're not 'having this conversation 4 months on', we had it in August (a fairly sensible time relative to the film's release) and then have picked it up again now.
Maybe corsets are just not an issue you take seriously. Maybe you should try one to see if it's as bad as they say...

I was quite happy to let this thing lie! Blame Jar Jar, not me.

Look, I stand by my original thingy. I accept that on subsequent viewings the whole corset/fainting/splash thing may become a bit clearer. But the way it was shot and edited (shots of amulet/KK's decolletage, etc) made it look, to me, rather like it might be supposed to have something to do with her necklace.

CW, we don't want to start talking about the possibility of our wearing corsets. These conversations get fraught and spiky enough when we're talking about films. Let's leave lingerie out of it.

(Things you never thought you'd find yourself typing...)

So I must be the strange one for picking up on the corset joke first off...

And on topic:

Yesterday I went to a family party and my uncle turned round and asked me where I'd parked the Black Pearl...

Wasn't sure whether it was an insult or complement.

Well, it showed that he has a sense of humour, and good taste in films.
What it says about you is:
a)you were a walking skeleton
b)you were wearing a lot of eyeliner and looking as if you were on... whatever it is that he's on
or
c)erm, you had a parrot on your shoulder, or a silly hat, or something

I think it's rum.... three days of binge drinking rum. Sparrow I'm talking about, not me!

Three days non-stop, I guessed.
