just to drag this thread out of the gutter smiley - biggrin
i have finished the intelligencer and although i enjoyed it i am afraid it didnt grab me - as a bit of a romp it was as the da vinci code fine and i confess i didnt suss it but then i never do - i thought the characters lacked depth and kate, she was just too perfect and the friend ? superfluous
just my opinion you understand - i am taking the following away with me case you are interested smiley - smiley
Oz Blackstone - jack reacher ( he may put my sun oil on ) and the second weather warden book and for the plane the alienist

see ya

She has really captured the Gothic Genre well..I did Gothic Lit at college years ago during my degree and read loads!

I think gothic literature is catching, Adrian said he's off to find Bram Stoker's Dracula after that one. I always think thats great when you find a genre you like enough to go and find other lit that is similar!!

What am I reading today - well having got through Birdsong at a ridiculously stupid rate I'm re-reading Elizabeth - which is a history book by David Starkey - it was on TV. I actually think for anyone who avoids history because they think its hard-going should read it because his narrative is very easy to follow and interesting - he's good at evoking the period she lived through and the stresses and pressures she suffered.

Whether I actually re-read the whole thing is down to my mood but I am certainly about 10 pages in.

You need to read the Historian..whilst not horror in the true sense it is scary and gripping , a kind of hiding behind the soaf book ala Dr Who. Talking of Dr Who I watched the episode with tyhe cybermen recently and they still spooked me..my kids couldmn't see what was so scary!

I agree..so I'm not quite sure where she gets her inspiration. An Act of Treachery was a good one about France during ww2 if I remeber rightly.
She isn't a touchy feely person is she ?

i think often us roughy toughies just hide it well lol
