Emmily ~ Roses are red, Peas are green, My face is a laugh, But yours is a scream Posted Jul 13, 2003
Hi all
Sian, I wonder if that's the same woman that when my Alex asked to book on a computer, she said they were fully booked, without looking on the sheet, then when he asked about the following day, she said the same thing again not looking at the sheet. I get on ok with most of the staff, so when Alex told me this I went and spoke to them, asked of they had someone new with problem with teengersor people using the computers, they couldn't think who would've said that (convenient) that was last year, and i still don't know which one it was.
Thurrock Council, spend more in Ockendon, tsk tsk, now you should know Grays gets *everything* (no offence Kat ) I laughed when they put up those hanging baskets, they was suppose to *improve the area* they lasted longer than I thought they would. Grays got security cameras, we got hanging baskets, shows where the councils priorities are oh, and the difference between Grays and S/Ocks christmas lights, lmao!
Possible good news, I've heard we'll have some new shops opening soon, though what shops and when, pass.

emmily it's because i lived in south ockendon for 6 months when i first moved with my parents from northumberland. the bus service is dreadful, the railway station is too remote and only has a telephone that only accepts card. i remember going to south ockendon with my sister in the 80's and it was alot better than it is now.
it's usually the case that the council will always put more money in the town or city that has it's power base. i had similar experience when i lived in barrhill by girvan in ayrshire as all the resources were geared for glasgow.

where abouts is the cyber cafe in Grays?!
Emmily
Now now you know we are equal in the Counil's proity. I mean we have got security cameras...totally rubbish but that's not the point
and at the end of the market (thurrock coucil office end) there is a black post with a hanging basket on it, only lasted a few days, but again that's not the point .
Might be the same woman in the library. Does Alex go to the ockendon school, that woman seems to have a problem with kids from there...hence moi

See, Grays has a cyber cafe!
Loup, people *can* access chat rooms via Belhus Library computers, Sian just got one member of staff with an attitude problem. How long ago was this Sian, she may have left now, or only work limited hours. The computers are not even near the 'counter' now.
When 'a visitor to planet earth' used to use computers in Birmingham libraries, he was *not* allowed to access chat rooms, I used to tease him about his restrictive outdated libraries.

sian it's in clarence road in grays which is about 10 minutes walk from the bus stop and it's not very far from the park. you can get unlimited time and it's free on the pc's on the second floor but you may have to wait until a pc is free. no restrictions except on saturday morning and you just have to wait until 11.am.

not fair
we're not allowed to access chat rooms in the southend library...
well, the official thingy we click to access the net says so anyway... i don't think it's implemented tho'... but as i'm always on here when using the PC there, i never really bothered checking...
re: "visitor to planet earth" not being allowed to access a chat room.. hehe.. we can't blame his libraries' staff for forbidding him can we?!...

Going by some of the threads he's started here, no Loup,
Yes, Alex does go to ockendon school.
Oh Kat, you had to mention the buses again, where else would you wait an hour for a that's *suppose* to run every half hour. and I'm suppose to find a job, relying on this type of public transport
Sian, we were one of the last to get security camera's, and we had to 'fight for them' and when we did get them, first they weren't connected, then the image was so bad as to be useless, they are better now that they are linked to Tilbury

The 373 is terrible, more like every 3 hours
Not Alex as in little Alex in yr 10....I think its year 10 now
I didn't even know the security cameras work, thought they were still dummy ones

Loup Dargent Posted Jul 13, 2003
the cameras: perhaps that's the idea... people still think that they don't work so the villains get caught easier...
mmmmmm perhaps not...
got to go offline... talk later everyone...

thanks loup i have just found a place on the map called tolleshunt knights. i have found that southend is called southend because it is south of prittlewell.
salcott cum virley - virley is from the norman lord in 1086, robert de verli who came from verley in aisne, france.
mose in 'beaumont cum mose' means marsh. originally beaumont had the unfortunate name of gulepet, foul hollow but it was later christened with the french for fair or beautiful hill.

Loup Dargent Posted Jul 13, 2003
yep... beaumont is beautiful hill... another typical french origine name is beauchamps [beautiful fields]and bellevue [beautiful view]... the latter is actually a street in southend...
the plot thickens...
talk soon...
