...the reader feels lost or alienated and just loses interest.
Stylistic devices shouldn't get in the way of a good yarn just because they're hip.

Bingo ! a cybersprog (new friendship at least), is conceived. We even have a ready and willing surrogate in h2g2. Wow, there goes another cell division.
