Trying to change my password - no possible way that I can see how to do it. FAQs say that I should go to Preferences, where I should be able to change password and email - this doesn't work for me, as there are no boxes available to do this. I'm using (at home) Imac G4, OS 10+, with AOL as browser.

Also get same problem from a Windows PC.

The FAQs have not all been updated since SSO. Many things like the password and email are now only viewed and changed via "Retrieve my details" which you should see in an SSO bar near the top of the page.

Still can't change password - I don't know what SSO is either. I am getting into H2G2 using an oldish id which has remembered my password (no, I can't access it from there)

This takes me into what I assume is the old system, which is where I am posting this from.

I don't have a "review my details" area - presumably this is in the new system. I can't access the new system because I can't remember my password.

Just to irritate me further, trying to get into the "new " system, I am prompted for the email address that I originally used to access H2G2. This was a long time ago, and the eamil address (a company one) is no longer valid, even if I could remember what it was (I think it ended Swan.Ac.UK)
I now use [email protected] almost exclusively as my email address

If any of the editors can help I would be grateful, and promise to update my Jake Thackray article within a few days when I can access the new system!

Regards

I wonder if it's a bit of a bug that you can post at all. I suppose you had ticked "remember me" on that id and never logged out. smiley - erm Other people who never logged out still had to migrate accounts though. So there may be something different about really old accounts. I expect that would be one for Jim Lynn to answer.

SSO = Single Sign-On (more info on A1325387)
What it actually means is having to sign-on to multiple services separately instead of just getting to use them after one sign-on, ie multiple registration. However, once "registered" with each, the single logging in part of the sign-on works across them.
