RIP Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash died today - aged 71.
I can't claim to have been a big fan, but he was a huge influence on a great many artists today and his mark will be heard for many years to come.
The music world has truly lost one of its greats today.
RIP Johnny Cash

Also not a fan but I did like his music. Was his gravelly voice from smoking?

All the Marlboros in the world don't give you a voice like that...

Well, they're up to date, I'll give them that...
I particularly like
"After about three lessons [my] voice teacher said, 'Don't take voice lessons. 'Do it your way. You're a song stylist. Always do it your way'."
RIP Johnny Cash

I would love if my vocal teacher said that to me. I think she's just trying to make more money...
He was a great man, though not to my usual tastes. Fantastic voice.
