Copper-top Steve "Interesting" Davis hit the first televised 147 at the Lada Classic in January 1982. That must have taken some nerve.
But hatsa off the Ronnie "The Rocket" O'Sullivan who cleared the table in a whirlwind 5 minutes 20 seconds for the fastest 147 break in snooker history.

Steve tells a great story about 147s. It goes something along the likes of:
Cliff Thorburn made the first-ever 147 at the Crucible, and received £147,000 for it. That's nearly £4,00 a ball! I made a 147 at the Lada Classic, and got a Lada car. Great. I was driving a BMW at the time.
