as my Grandfather called the end of the war. He had a butcher's shop and had many hilarious tales to tell about rationing... but on the evening of VE Day he pushed the pianola through from the living quarters at the back of the shop, brought out his beer and anybody who was passing joined in the party. I wasn't born then, but my mother met someone only last year who remembered Frank Spicer's party on VE night.
