Confederation - July 1, 1867, it was a Monday. In the old rhyme Monday's child is fair of face. Sounds like a good description of Canada to me.

When the Provinces joined Confederation:
1867 - New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec
1870 - Manitoba, Northwest Territories
1871 - British Columbia
1873 - Prince Edward Island
1898 - Yukon
1905 - Alberta, Saskatchewan
1949 - Newfoundland
1999 - Nunavut

1997 - The Flood of the Century - Manitoba and North Dakota. Water, water everywhere. The Red River rose to unprecedented levels, and for the first time in years we had Canadian Army troops on our streets helping with the sandbagging.

January 5 to 9, 1998 - the Ice Storm in Quebec and Ontario.

Aren't NWT, Yukon and Nunavut still officially Territories and not yet Provinces?

I hit the wrong button before saying "I agree with you"! I wish I hadn't lost the medal I received in 1967 on the centenary.

I believe you're right. Went too far trying to stay brief.
