Don't know if this has been mentioned...

The days that the unsinkable ship, the Titanic sunk. They hit the iceberg just before midnight and began sinking. By midnight, it was apparent that the ship wouldn't last very long. By about 2 o'clock AM, all of the lifeboats had been sent off, and about 700 are saved by a nearby ship, the Carpathia. It is not known how many died

I also wouldn't feel right if I didn't stick in this piece of trivia-
Cost to build the Titanic: $7.5-million

Cost to make Titanic, the movie (1997): $200-million-plus

Yes they skimped too much on the first effort didn't they!

The latest effort went straight into profit, not only crossed the Atlantic but has been seen all over the world on many occasions. The first got half way across the Atlantic and lost everything.

Then there was Lou Grade's film "Raise the Titanic!" that was so expensive he is said to have said it'd have been cheaper to lower the Atlantic.

Oldie, but goodie
