Breakfasts for British Adolescents

Post 1

Benjy

I've had a lot of the above and I find that they can be split into two distinct catergories:
1- Breakfasts for boys
2- Breakfasts for girls
I'll start with the former as it's the one i've had most experience with, being an adolescent boy.
This consists of;

1-3 large bowls of suitably sugary cereal (Frosties,Cheerios,Coco Pops etc...). The cereal should just breach the lip of the bowl. Milk should be added until the cereal surges up unexpectantly, somewhre around half a pint. Raisins or sultanas are optional.

2-4 pieces of thick sliced bread (brown or white) toasted for around 2-3 minutes sideways in a toaster. they can then be liberally covered with a variety of spreads and jams. My personal favourite is butter as it melts into the bread if you get it on the right side ( has anyone else noticed this? no ? ok). Now I used to cut the bread diagonally but then changed to width ways, and now I don't cut it at all. I think that it's all a question of time....it's up to you.

Now coffee used to be the favourite drink at breakfast, but there is now an underground movement which advocates a good old mug of warm milk in the morning. I have been informed that the secret is to fill a mug just over 3/4 full and heat in a microwave for exactly 40 seconds. Anything more or less is just wrong, apparently. However it remains to be seen whether milk will reign supreme over the breakfast counter and for the time being coffee is King.

This is the average breakfast for a "growing lad" and they definetley will grow eating it , though not perhaps in the desired direction.

Now to girls, and since i don't have much experience here I'm not sure if this is correct, but by inspecting my sisters breakfast remains I think its not far off.

1/2 a glass of orange juice or some other citric fruit.

1/2 a bowl of cornflakes.

1 piece of white toast spread with Olivio.

A vitamin C supplement.

After speaking to some lady friends I've discovered this is almost excessive. How do they do it. I'm not complaining, though, just mystified.

Well there you have it. Typical breakfasts for typical teenagers. This is truly the most important meal of the day. Any corrections or experiences are eagerly welcomed. I'd love to hear about breakfasts for teenagers in other countries too, do the French eat croissants? Do the Germans eat bratwurst, etc...
Bone Apateet!
