In Summer 1997 i went to America for my cousin's wedding. I stayed at my cousin in law's parents home in Atlanta. I couldn't believe how much food they had. 3 fridges full! They had a large selection of foods: waffles, cereals, toast.
I doubt American breakfasts are healthy, but you certainly get choice!

I hardly think Southern America's food supply has much relation to the rest of America. You'd be surprised how many go without breakfast here in the US, I'd guess around 50% of adults at the least

I happen to occupy relative space here in the United States, and can confirm that we eat large amounts of food-like substances for breakfast. As to it's health value, well, if you ask about that here your pretty much confirming an American's suspicion that you're not a local, especially if you're in the southern states.
Grits are a great way to start the day, though you can acheive the same results in your colon with volcanic sand.
