A Conversation for Great Comedy Acts

Dave Allen - I always relished his shows, very relaxed with a dry delivery (despite the glass at his elbow!) and the comic sketches as an interlude. Irreverent and droll.

Joyce Grenfell - an acute observer of human life, portrayed a wide range of characters with gentle humour. (Nursery school - Don't do that, George.)

Victoria Wood - amusing monologues, another perceptive observer. I always smile at 'Let's do it'

Dave Allen's final sign-off on every show still stays with me today: 'Goodnight... and may your God go with you.'

Joyce Grenfell is probably better known as the haughty teacher in the st Trinians movies.
