Oh, you SO beat me to it! Eddie is a genius, truly a genius. He's one of those rare comedians I can watch/listen to over and over again, fairly regularly, and still laugh myself stupid every time. I love that he starts out talking about silly, everyday-type things, and then, without warning, takes them in a completely bizarre direction.
Some favorite quotes (there really are too many to list):
"I like my women like I like my coffee…in a plastic cup."
"Do earwigs make chutney? Do spiders make gravy?"
"I didn't do it, I was dead at the time."
"Bunch of flowers!"
Eddie's turning out to be quite a wonderful actor, as well. If you haven't seen "The Cat's Meow," I highly recommend it. It's a great film, and his performance was fabulous.

Here's another vote for Eddie... genuis, action transvestite and impressionist (well, Sean Connery, Micheal Caine and James Mason at least )

Actually, to get off the random quotes train of thought for a bit, did anybody see "Velvet Goldmine"? Eddie is actually a great actor, as well as being one of the funniest men on the planet.
He was even entertaining in "Mystery Men", and he only had about 2 lines!
"Avengers"? He shot guns. Ah well.
Anywayyyyy- erm, ah, emergency joke... there's these two blokes who walk in a pub, and they completely redecorate the place and it's great!
Comedy, comedy, big -off room.....

If you loose your cat, look behind the sofa, cause that's where it'll be drilling! I aint seen any of his 'acting' stuff, was a bit frightened to , but judging by comments within, guess I ought to. Anyone know in Central London where any of them are showing, by off chance?

we only had three bits, and we didn't expect such a rush.

He was utterly amazing in Velvet Goldmine and I'm desperately searching for a video copy of 'A Day In The Death of Joe Egg' that was on BBC4 last year.
My best mate recently bought me Circle on DVD - he's even funnier in French!
At the moment, we're taking off the Death Star canteen skit quite often.
Most obscure punchline in history - "All sons have physics jokes..."

Try your local video rental place. They should have 'Goldmine' (even though it's quite old by now). It does deal with some very weird concepts - and is rather kinky in places - but well worth the time and trouble!

I agree with him...
Velvet Goldmine is a brilliant film, and Eddie is excellent in it- just the right amount of ham I looked up the film because I knew he was in it.. and I'm now a fan of it. He was good for the short time he was in the Avengers, but I have yet to see Mystery Men. Anyone know anything else he's been in?

Mystery Men is easily one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, and one which certainly bears repeat watching. (I, myself, have seen it easily 200+ times, but that's got as much to do with the fact that I worked for shop owned by Dark Horse Comics as anything else.) Still, I'm not sure I'd recommend it if you're only interested in seeing Eddie. He's good, but his is a pretty small part.
Movies I'd recommend for Eddie-watching are Shadow of the Vampire and, as I mentioned before, The Cat's Meow. The latter contains the best work I have seen from Eddie in the dramatic realm. Up until the point I saw that movie, I would have said that he was a passable, although by no means brilliant, actor. When I saw The Cat's Meow, however, I was completely blown away. The already enormous amount of respect I have for the man is nearly out the roof at this point. I can't wait to see what he does next!
