A Conversation for English Pub Names
The Red Lion
I Am Iron Man Started conversation Jan 19, 2000
Apparently, the name Red Lion derives from Richard the Lionheart, because of his obvious connection with lions. A pub called the Oak is referring to King Charles the Headless because apparently he hid in an oak for some time. In some pub signs of these pubs, King Charles can be seen apeepin' through the branches.
