Having Lurked around h2g2 and the DNA sites for the last 2/3 months I have rightly or wrongly come to the conclusion that the DNAhub to h2g2 relationship is a bit like a dog chasing its own tail. ( A904042 )
Each community needs and must have its own identity. There is no doubt that these communities will get along with each other much better if they communicate in a common language. The language of the DNA hub. Considerable effort has gone into the technical make up of that language. Plans for its continued development and expansion are in place.
Is talking to each other enough ? Shouldn't there be a way of ensuring that not only do we use the same language but that we talk along similar lines with regard to subjects that interest and concern us. If it is recognised that the headings of Life, The Universe and Everything embody every communities needs, then so be it. Is it not possible for each new community to be identified within this broad classification making it possible for each one to know of and relate to the existence of the other ?

In attempting to organise and coordinate its development and evolution h2g2 has established a broad framework along these lines. Under the heading (THE GUIDE - Box to the right of h2g2 Front Page)

Wouldn't it be wise to modify and extend this philosophy to include all existing and future DNA sites. ?

Ancient Brit.
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
