Personally I'm committed to my chopsticks and won't be moved ... and the food definitely does taste better that way. An odd phenomenon - I'd also stake my reputation on the fact that bread (and most particularly the baguette) tastes better when ripped rather than cut - I can, however proffer no explanation. Sorry

re: baguettes.... croissants taste much better as well when ripped. There's nothing worse than one that's been sliced in half! Urgh....
