An excellent entry which tells me more than I have ever
been able to discern about the life and career of Arnold.
Thank you.

I am however now at a loss to understand what circumstances
occurred, perhaps later, that resulted in his being crowned
America's most famous traitor. My education in Canada did
not mention him or the events - he's an American phenom and
as such not considered vital or relevant to our studies.

Perhaps there is more to his career that should be appended
for those who do not know the rest of the story and how he
came to such infamy.

Also, since this is an Edited Entry, may I suggest there is
a typo on the word 'statics' in the third paragraph under the
subheader Battle of Valcour Island which I have assumed was
meant to be read as 'statistics'. It is otherwise well written,
well edited and quite readable.

But again, thank you for expanding my vision of what life was
really like in colonial times; how active and mobile our early
settlers were over thousands of square miles in a wilderness
with no roads or means of communication. And yet, how constant
is the nature of men and politics to pass judgment and heap blame
even upon the brave and heroic.

Thank you for the kind words, I am rather proud of this one.

>I am however now at a loss to understand what circumstances occurred, perhaps later, that resulted in his being crowned America's most famous traitor.

Have you read part 2? That is where I speculate about the treason. I try not to go over 5,000 words in a single Entry, so I split this one in two.

I have an entry on 1812 gathering dust waiting for an Editor, When that one hits the FP we ha have some fun smiley - biggrin.
