A Conversation for The Pomodoro - 25 Minutes of Productive Time

The Pomodoro

The Apprentice

I discovered this process about 6 months ago and gave it a good go. I have found now that I sort of adhere to this process naturally, concentrating for a period, taking a brief break, concentrating, etc. It comes down to keep to it and making sure you have a defined set of goals at the start of the day. Rigour or something similar ensure that you don't lose track or get distracted along the way.

I have also found it useful to never leave a simple take undone, using the rule that if I can get it down in 3 minutes or less, I should do it now. Somewhere inbetween I have felt myself getting more productive and less frustrated with the little stuff. The Pomodoro helps break up the big stuff and drive it towards completion.

Great article.

Thanks, TA smiley - smiley

I've had a couple of failed attempts at using it to plan my whole day - probably because I get too many interruptions and meetings which have to take place at set times, or to other people's schedules. But, as you say, it's useful for breaking down the elephant tasks.

smiley - cheers Icy
