"Lammas, or 'loaf mass' in Celtic was traditionally the time" -- this suggests that Lammas is a Celtic word. It isn't. Lammas is Old English. The Celtic name for this festival was Lughnasa.

Interestingly, August is still called Lughnasa (or, more properly, LĂșnasa) in modern Irish.

May, meanwhile, is called Bealtaine, from which Beltine is derived.
