A Conversation for Hanging Items Upon a Clothesline

I am definitely weird. I am a bit of an tidy freak when it comes to hanging things on the line and am at my worst regarding socks. I have to hang them in pairs and they all have to face the same way (typically all heels to the right!) I think I may need help!

I agree with you on hanging socks in pairs. This to me makes sense as it means that when you gather the clothes from the line (even if in a hurry because it has started raining [a common problem where I live]) the socks are already paired up . I also use the same coloured pegs for each sock in a pair (I use a non-linking system where each item has to have colour-paired pegs) but had not considered 'facing' them all the same way. I might need to add this feature - do I need help too

Not only do I hang socks all facing the same direction, I also hang underpants (on their side with one peg) all facing the same direction. Obviously, shirts and pants etc. are all hung the same way, but I think most people manage to get that far on their own.

Underpants are normally hung on a small clothes horse inside the house. I still suffer from a certain amount "Britishness"

That is why I like to hang the bigger items in a position that blocks the casual onlooker's view. See the section entitled "Outside/Inside - Big/Small."

But then you probably have something along the lines of what we would call a 'whirligig' and what I believe in Australia is known as a Hill's Hoist. My washing is strung on a simple line attached at one end to the side of my house and at the other end to the top of a pole at the bottom of the gaden. Thus anything hung on it can be seen by neighbours on either side of our house.
