A Conversation for Ray Bradbury's 'Fahrenheit 451'

NO, Mr. Bradbury, it's about censorship

Ray Bradbury has on more than one occasion had to argue with audience members at speaking engagements whether his book is about what HE says it's about.

He insists it is not a protest against censorship, but a protest against television. He says about televisions, "They stuff you with so much useless information, you feel full."

If he thought that about television, what would he say about Wikipedia?

He doesn't own a computer.

A few months ago, some folks brought a laptop to him just so he could see a rather notorious youtube video of a cute young woman singing an ode(?) to him.

It was called "smiley - bleep me, Ray Bradbury". smiley - laugh

He seemed pleased with it.

One of my favourite films of all time. I was less impressed by the book. Not so much with the ideas as with the style of Bradbury's writing. I should give it another read, maybe I was comparing it to a much loved film rather than a stand alone piece of literature.

I,d agree that he's not a great craftsman. It's his ideas which are great and F451?thread= I,d agree that he's not a great craftsman. It's his ideas which are great and F451 does show that. It's a long time since I've read him but I recall that "Something Wicked This Way Comes" is very good - Stephen King, before King started writing.
