Apparently the Int'l Olympic Committee (IOC) thinks so. While they were considering making chess an Olympic event (now dropped, I think), they insisted on checking the players for drugs. Maybe because one Grandmaster (GM) once said, in response to a question on the source of his talent, "Probably the coffee I drink."
