A Conversation for The Solar System

Has anyone else spotted this? The description of Venus "out-of-control greenhouse effect" kind of sparked an idea. Everone here on Earth is worried about the greenhouse effect and the ice-caps melting, ozone layer depleting, etc. etc. But what if Venus was once like Earth? I mean it couldn't be exactly because it's closer to the sun, but there might have been life. If they caused the greenhouse effect on Venus, Venus would look as it does today.
Some scientist guy's just going to crush that idea and explain why Venus has all those clouds and incredibly hot temperatures (the volcanoes might come into it), but I'm still at school, so don't blame me for not being as smart as an astrophysicist. So, life on Venus? Please tell me. http://www.h2g2.com/U142060
