The h2g2 Poem: Lost at Sea
Created | Updated Oct 15, 2011
Lost at Sea
The lass had walked along the shore
She'd walked so long her feet were sore
She paused and stood by the harbour wall
Stared out to sea, watching the murky grey squall
Quietly she started to weep
Somewhere out there, in the deep
Her long time love had been lost
He'd gone out there, despite the cost
He was a fisherman, proud to be at sea
Storms and tempest were the norm to see
He'd battled through them, time and again
His last trip though was all in vain
The lass had been woken by the doorbell
There was the harbourmaster, she knew so well
The local police alongside him
She knew the news was bound to be grim
The severe storms that had struck
Meant the trawler had come unstuck
She'd overturned and gone deep down
All those on board sadly to drown
Now here she was all on her own
Feeling lost and all forlorn
In her grief and despair
She thought how life was so unfair
