This one I learnt from my mum, basically you just go through the months in order pointing at either your knuckle or the space between. If a month is on a knuckle it has 31 days, if not is has 30 (except february)...far better than that thirty days hath september malarky.
(ps this works because the 7th and 8th months are the only two consecutive months to have the same number of days and that is when you go from the last knuckle on your left hand to the first on your right.)

I do this as well, but I use my fingers and the spaces in between.
