smiley - erm I hate to have to point this out, but the author's name has been spelt incorrectly throughout these three linked entries - it's 'Awdry', not 'Awdrey'...

Surely it is somewhat unfair to call Ringo an ex-drummer for the Beatles, after all he was the drummer of the Beatles.

PS. Where has Stephen the Unreliable Engine gone? After all that spinning on the turntable I think he might have hit the buffers!

James - wholesale spork provider (2*3*8*1-6*1=42!)

Who was Stephen? i mean I can name any locos given the number, except ones without numbers, such as Emma the Intercity 125, but have never heard of Stephen the Unreliable Engine.

Researcher 238615

Martin here, I actually have an H2G2 space http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/U194261 which mentions this subject but fouled the login somehow. Anyway, James is completely correct smiley - steam, no such engine, but hey, I thought the man was just joshin' . For those who care about it they are catalogued on my website now in excruciating detail at www.geocities.com/martinclutt/awdry/ . Seeing as geocities has bandwidth restrictions, and my site is totally uncommercial, I'd have no objection to the researchers on these three excellent entries to use this resource for total "hitchiker's guide" LUE coverage. Pity you can't post pictures smiley - smiley. Otherwise I can point visitors in this direction and forget about it.

Sincerely,
The Paranoid Android
