A Conversation for Anoraks - They're People Too
We Just Call Them Geeks

Thanks for this posting. I heard this term used during a BBC Radio 7 rebroadcast of the Now Show and I had an idea what it meant. In the States, we call the people 'geeks' (like those sad, sad, sad souls who talk about Star Wars and Star Trek like it really happened) and the raincoats are usually called parkas.
I think they bring a lot of the teasing on to themselves. And, you're right, they're usually men. That's because women usually have someone to take care of ... husband, children, brothers, sisters.
Thanks again!
PS - Would you call reality show fanatics "anoraks" too? It crosses both genders and I have known people that reschedule their whole week around an episode of 'Joe Millionaire'.
