I've always found that one thing that really helps is horseback riding - the motion and sitting up straight help relax all the right muscles, as do the surroundings if you head outside - just don't plan to learn anything difficult! Also, the closeness to your horsy friend is comforting when you get that feeling. And it's an incentive to pull yourself together and be fair to your horse! If that bloaty feeling is a problem, try those half-leg chaps and short jodhpur or similar boots with jeans instead of those tight riding trousers. And don't forget the !
My was also always very helpful, providing a living hot-water bottle and kneading a bit sometimes, she seemed to notice when it was necessary!
