A great read and all too true, thank-you. The Paris métro is a whole other world, I am still trying to work out half of the rules after 10 months!

Brings back lots of wonderful memories - thanks! smiley - ok

btw, in my experience of some of the more outlying stations the staff are happy to let you use the staff toilets - they're so grateful to have someone talk to them!

To be honest, all the rules should be pretty much the same in the Paris Métro as they are in the London Underground. The major problem would probably be training the French to follow them.

And then, of course, there are the American tourists!

Hello,

I'm a new user and I've heard that there's an entry about a tube world record somewhere around h2g2 - did someone go to every tube station in 24 hours?

I would be very grateful if someone could point me in the direction of the entry or the name of the record holder?

Thank you very much everyone!

Jac

There isn't a guide entry as far as I know but I do mention this feat in my journal

See under my profile
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/U187964 and I interviewed a guy who wrote a novel about it
http://www.goingunderground.net/lowe.html

But if you really want to know more about the current record holder - Robert Robinson who did all 282 stations in under 20 hours (just) try here

How stupid am I smiley - doh

Of course it is mentioned in an edited entry I wrote on the Life and Times of the London Underground Map
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A673517

Let me quote from it

"The record for travelling to each one of 282 stations (which includes the new Jubilee Line Extension) is 19 hours, 59 minutes and 37 seconds. Some other forms of public transport were used in this record completed by Robert Robinson. He attributed his success to knowing the tubes like the back of his hand: 'every single platform, every signal, every entrance and exit - everything.' "

How embarrassing smiley - blush Anyway my earlier reply gives you more info and some direct links too!!
