Get you cat used to the technique above.
Then take 2 torches. Shine the beams at the same place on the floor. Get the cat chasing the beam. Just as the cat pounces, separate the 2 beams. Then sit back and have hysterics watching your cat do the splits
A note of caution - with clever cats this only ever works once!

All seems stupid to me. A cat likes a peaceful life, not to be taunted and made to jump through the hoop to amuse humans. Most kittens prefer a piece of paper on a string tied to a door handle, this will keep them quiet. An older cat like to be stroked and cuddled, not tormented. Marj

i disagree...if your cat is playful enough, they will play the game, even when they know they're not going to catch anything. if they don't want to play, they won't. it sounds like you are underestimating cat's intelligence, actually

I also diasgree, I think this is just as fun for the cat as the paper-on-the-end-of-string method.
