A Conversation for Advice on Coming Out
How a lesbian work colleague " came out".....

This is a true story.......
I'd imagine that one of the most difficult things to do when coming out must be how to tell casual / new acquaintances (should you feel the need to do so).
A few years ago, a work colleague came up with an interesting solution to this problem. We were having a staff party, and after a few drinks, she picked up a random tabloid newspaper, flicked through it, and threw it away, complaining bitterly that "there's no page three in this."
It wasn't until she did exactly the same thing again a few months later at another party, after we'd had quite a large turnover of staff, that I realised that this was an entirely deliberate way of letting people know.....
Best wishes to all

Personally, I've always found that wearing my "Nobody Knows I'm a Lesbian" T-shirt does the job pretty well.
Inanna, who's even worn it round various Christian festivals... mwahahahaha

One of my colleagues had the approach that the first thing you found out upon meeting her was her name and the second was that she was a lesbian. Many people found this really uncomfortable, it was as if she thought that was only important or interesting thing about her. I am not sure if this was because she was newly out and wanted to shout it from the rooftops or what, but it made her very difficult to talk to because it was so hard to find out anything else about her.
