A piece titled, "A modest Proposal" in which he suggests a way to take care of the problem of the starving irish. It can be found here: http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/1080 Of course he wasn't serious about his solution but merely trying to inspire others to think about the problem of the poor not having enough of the basics of life.
