No, No, No!! Please, do not propagate the myth that two air molecules arriving at the leading edge of a wing, one going above and one below, must in theory reach the trailing edge at the same time. It is not true and there is no logical reason to think it should be true. All studies of air flow in wind tunnels also demonstrate that it is not true (not even approximately true) in practice. Two molecules/particles/parcels of air that separate at the leading edge are quite independent and certainly don't know they are 'supposed' to arrive at the same time!

It is perfectly possible to build flat wings (e.g. in a simple balsawood model glider) that produce lift with the upper and lower surface being exactly the same length. Aeroplanes can be flown in level flight upside-down with the flatter surface upper most and still produce excellent lift. The key to all this is angle of attack. Aerofoils are cambered to reduce drag, keep the boundary layer attached for longer, and other reasons of aerodynamic efficiency - different path lengths for upper and lower surfaces are NOT REQUIRED for lift.

I have heard before that the air molecules do not arrive together at the trailing edge.

This being the case, does the air on the upper surface still have to travel faster?

If so why?

And if not, how is lift really produced, as the dynamic pressure would be equal above and below the wing?

Really hope you can answer this as it's puzzled me for years.
