A Conversation for The Raphaels - the Band

Stuart Adamson was, is and always will be, my guitar hero. I cannot fail to reach for my own guitar whenever I hear a Big Country song. I deeply regret not going to the final concert in Glasgow when I had the chance.

For me, "Ships", "Where the rose is sown" and "Just a Shadow" are poignant classics. For setting your heart thumping, "Chesters Farm" and "Red Fox" are unequalled.

A great entry on the Raphaels. Hindsight makes this album all the more moving.

Stuart frequently announced on stage that "as long as you are there, we'll be here". Well, we're still here Stuart.

Hi SWL

Glad you liked the Entry smiley - smiley

I didn't see the final Glasgow gig, but I did see them at Shepherd's Bush as part of the 'Final Fling' tour - by coincidence I'm wearing the T-shirt today...

'Ships' is a fantastic song, and I prefer the 'acoustic' version on 'No Place Like Home' to the rockier version on 'Buffalo Skinners'. Other good choices you have there as well smiley - ok For me, 'Thirteen Valleys' probably comes out as my favourite, but there are just too many incredible tracks to pick particular ones out. 'The Storm'... 'Alone'... 'Remembrance Day'... I could be here all night!

smiley - cheers

A BIG Big Country fan since formation and back with Stuart in The Skids. Saw them live many times - always in South Wales and always brilliant - truly one of the best live bands.

The Raphaels album is amazing- I bought it when it came out - it is truly on of my favourite albums. "Back on the coast of Wales" sends shivers up my back every time - I live on the coast of Wales in Ogmore-by-Sea.

My family all love the album - it is constantly in our car and almost always in the CD shuffler.

Cheers

Mike
