you say that many westerners make hasty judgements about the role of women in islam without any prior knowledge. while this is partly true, i have read the quaran (i studied islam for a year) and i have many muslim freinds. ok, so many of the typical veiws voiced in your article are misconceptions, but i have found islam to be predominantly a sexist religion in my own experience. many of my freinds are not forced to stay at home, but are still not given the same amount of freedom in the household a the males. at this moment, two of my muslim freinds are being forced to marry against their will. some of them arent even allowed to go out shopping on their own. and you have to admit that in many countries in the middle east, women are treated atrociously, and in the past 10 years there have even been cases of muslim women being stoned to death in streets for minor offenses. of course, i do apprecate that there are many cultural differentiations in islam, and that in britian many muslim families live by varying degrees of stringency, but i do think that all sides of the story have to be taken into account

Well fill us in with details women lol. I know most of the stuff that people read is steryoptyped and my last reply of "I think you missed the point" is just pointing out that the above person has only read part one by what it seems and not parts two or three.

Come to think of it, have you read parts 2 and three?

I don't think I have fallen for the misconceptions I spent a lot of time talking to Muslim women from all over the world and my own knowledge of Qur'an and Sunnah to write this article.

Va alaikum salaam
