Hello. Congratulations on having your articles submitted for subbing for the Edited Guide. I have been put in charge of your entries for the next step on the way to Edited Status. I am posting to all of you at the moment, and when I get around to each entry I will email you. Please make no further amendments to your entries as I have already grabbed your code for the next stage. Thank you for your understanding. I will now proceed, for your benefit, to explain how I work. Hope you all write many more articles of this standard in the future.

Firstly, I do not do entry subbing in little bits. I sit down on a Saturday afternoon, and read your entry, patch it up and polish it, and generally make sure it’s shipshape before returning it for the italics to spot my foolish typos.

Secondly, I do not change your writing style unless I have to. Most alterations to article are simply spelling, GuideML and clarification. You wrote it, and I feel it is not my duty to mash it up and reconstitute it unless absolutely necessary.

Thirdly, I do the articles in the order in which they appear on my list from the Towers, as laid down by my email. For this batch, that is:

A625501 ‘Handedness’ By Niwt
A624287 ‘Maria McKee, Singer…’ by Dr Bob
A625592 ‘Teaching a Cat to Fetch’ and A625600 ‘Roll of Thunder, Hear My…’ by *Liz*

Finally, I will endeavour to contact you personally regarding any clarifications that are required. This is done as a conversation on h2g2 unless you wish to request a conversation by email. This can be arranged by posting to my page.

That’s all, folks and small furry creatures from the crabb nebula. (Listen to R4, 6:30pm British time for repeats of the original radio show)

P.S. Re handedness. I reckon I would hae been left handed had it not een for my Year 1 teacher.

I don't know if you'll see this, but anyway...

Thanks for posting blah blah etc., this entry needs a heap of work 'cos there's lots to add, information from four sets of posts from the PR thread smiley - yikes

It's a pity the others haven't made contact yet. I hope they're all OK. I planon starting on this batch very soon - please be sure to check for a question often. One of the risks with so much to add is that your style of writing may suffer - I'll do my best to avoid that. And of course, it'll take ages to do smiley - winkeye. With that in mind, I shall probably do your entry at the weekend. I will have to be online becauseof the PR threads, but this doesn't bother me much - not my connexion to pay for. Bye!

Whoami?

P.S. Did you deliberately eradicate Niwt as your name? If not, you probably need to reinstate it.

Oh, I thought I saw a reply from one of them somewhere smiley - erm

Don't worry about my style of writing, it's pretty bad. smiley - smiley If you want I can write the other bits if they're long and give them to you. smiley - smiley

Yes, I changed my name to nothing deliberately smiley - silly, so in conversation forums it seems to go back to the default.

Also, I don't get the PR threads on my copies of the articles. This is more than a little bit inconvenient, and hopefully this will change, but for now could you send me a link to the threads?

Thanks. Would be doing this saturday afternoon, but will most likely be Sunday because 4 lorries arrived at school today and they are unpacking some dodgems outside! At £1 a ride, I won't be doing many, but I will be queueing most of the afternoon!

Whoami? *excited*

You lucky thing! I want dodgems at my school! smiley - wah

I think you'll find £1 sterling is closer to $1.60 or to put it into perspective, 3 standard milk chocolate bars. It was a little expensive, but it was great fun, and this was the price per car, so I got half my money back for someone in the second seat.

No, it's $3 smiley - tongueout (I live in Australia and am talking about Australian dollars!)

Now, what's "standard"? We have big ones here, and that's all I can think of, but they're about 2 bucks each! smiley - yikes

A small one, like a mars bar or a galaxy. £1 buys you 2 330ml cans of Coke. Sorry, i got a bit confused. AUS$ vs. US$ vs. anywhere else that has $ gets a little confusing!

Thanks for the warning...

Post 12

Hmmm, well I think that's about right, although I think we have 500mL cans here smiley - erm (I wouldn't really know anyway)

Although Mars bars here would normally be about $1.50 each smiley - erm

500ml is a small PET bottle (IE clear plastic), they cost 79p, but on special offer some places, 2 for £1. According to the Telegraph this morning, Tourist rates for AUS$ is £1=AUS$2.86. So my rides cost $1.40 each, per person. They were quite long, so I din't feel ripped off.

We have 376mL cans for $1.50-$2
$1.40? That's not too bad...

School holidays? Explain. Here, we've finished our summer holidays and I'm 1 quarter into a term that will last until the week before Christmas! Anyway, got this weekend off, going home now!

Thanks for the warning...

Post 16

.

We've got four terms in a year, and we've just finished the 3rd, so we've got spring holidays, then 9 weeks of term then summer/Christmas holidays.

If you can still change this, you might like to mention that some people think hook-wristed lefties are the lefties with left-brain dominance, rather than right-brain dominance smiley - erm
