If there is one thing living in New York does for you it's to expand your sit-and-wait time. You like a lunatic to catch that bus/subway/train/cab/whatever just so you can spend the next hour or so en-route. This particular game works out well wherever you are and while it is more fun with someone to play with it can also be fun alone.
When you see people in an animated discussion each of you take a "role" in the discussion. Interpret what you think that person is saying. Your companion does the same for the other person. Creativity counts here so make it good . Make sure you're at a good distance from the actual show so as not to be distracted by the real conversation and so you don't earn a well-deserved insult from the participants.
If you play this game alone it's advisable you do so in your head so nobody calls the authorities to take you away to a nice soft room.
