I had a school friend who had a medical condition that sent her to her doctor on a regular basis. She'd get so bored waiting that sshe used to count the holes in an accoustic tile on his ceiling. At one time she could tell you exactly how many holes there is in one of those tiles! And sometimes the exercise put her to sleep!
