Unfairly judging from first 44 pages it's not a first choice. Key character is is Guy Keeble who early on murders his mistresses to save the relationship with his son, and then gets the taste for murder. This means any character we might feel emotionally sympathetic towards is quickly killed. I certainly didn't have any sympathy for Guy Keeble, but might have if I got to the end.
