Ok, just to get my own back...

Why, when most distilleries have outsourced their bottling operations, is Springbank one of the few distilleries to bottle their own whiskies 'in house'?

Springbank would argue that cutting the whisky and bottling themselves allows them to use the same water source throughout the production process. Most whiskies when bottled in Glasgow use council de-ionised water.

My turn:

What is the name of the current Glenturret cat? smiley - biggrin

Actually, the answer I was looking for is that the same company that owns Springbank also owns Cadenheads - an 'independent' whisky bottler.

Amber and Nectar (but I cheated and went straight to a distillery website for that one!)

Which distillery is famous for employing 16 men?

I've got a chance of getting hold of a 1973 Glenglassaugh (the Family Silver). Is it worth anything do you think?

Whisky

Yup, the sixteen men of Tain (otherwise known as Glenmorangie smiley - winkeye)

As to the Glenglassaugh - it seems to retail at around £100 a bottle - but if you were to try selling it at auction you'd probably get far less than that. (maybe £30-40 max.)

I'll be honest and say I don't think I've ever tasted Glenglassaugh - so I've no idea what it's like.
